Prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions are medications which appear on the reverse of your prescription which your doctor would like you to continue on a regular basis.
How to request a Repeat Prescription
- Repeat prescription requests are processed within 2 working days. This does not include weekends and bank holidays. Make sure that you order your medication well in advance during the holiday periods.
- Do not request your repeat prescription more than 10 days in advance as this will result in a rejection and you will have to order it again.
- You can only request medication which is on your repeat list. To request a medication that is not on your repeat or is new, you will need to book an appointment.
- Please do not order any medications you do not need.
- We normally issue prescriptions for 1 or 2 months only. You can learn more about this on
- Certain medications which can be bought in shops (over the counter), will not be issued. Please see this page for further details: https://neasden-greenhillpark.co.uk/prescriptions/over-the-counter/
Repeat prescriptions may be ordered in several ways:
Online
The Coronavirus outbreak has sped up our transition to online prescribing. This is now the preferred method, so that we can reduce unnecessary face-to-face contact. You can order your repeat prescriptions via Patient Access or NHS Online on a computer, ipad or a phone APP.
- For NHS Online you can register yourself and you will need your NHS Number and a proof of ID.
- For Patient Access you will have to provide proof of ID and have the correct contact details on our system. Once registered, the surgery will email you the details to create your own account.
In Person
You will need to tick the boxes on the white slip of your prescription to ensure correct ordering of your medication. Please place the request in the prescription box by the door. If you give us a handwritten request, please include your date of birth and full name. If you don’t, this will result in a delay of your repeat prescription
Post
If a stamped addressed envelope is supplied, your prescription can be returned via Royal Mail. Find our postal address.
Prescribing Changes
Tuesday, 26 May 2020
We have received a lot of queries regarding recent changes to prescription prescribing frequencies. We work together with Brent CCG closely to follow their prescribing guidelines. Brent CCG identified that the recent pandemic increased pressures on medicine availability compounded with certain drug shortages. Therefore to ensure access to medication for all, practices across NW London are encouraged to reduce prescription frequency to one-month. Brent CCG also works together with community pharmacists so that all services are informed of new guidance
